Reimagining Piazza Ognissanti Through a Cosmic Lens

These rings are intentionally offset and subtly distorted, creating a sense of natural movement rather than strict geometric precision.

The material palette remains restrained and elegant. Various shades of grey stone establish continuity with Florence’s historic urban fabric. Within this neutral surface, delicate gold inlays introduce moments of visual contrast and luminosity.

As sunlight moves across the plaza, these gold accents catch and reflect light differently throughout the day. The result is a constantly changing landscape that appears animated by time itself. The shimmering details evoke distant stars scattered across the night sky, bringing the cosmic narrative directly into the public realm.

Encircling the central space are custom-designed benches that follow the curvature of the paving. These seating elements are integrated into the overall geometry rather than treated as independent objects. Their placement encourages a variety of experiences, from quiet contemplation near the water to active observation of the surrounding city.
