Study Abroad in Florence: Prachi & Pooja Share Their Experience

Thinking about study abroad in Florence? Two students from India, Prachi Sharma and Pooja Sathish, spent the last semester at the Star Florence Design School, immersing themselves in a creative and cultural experience that changed the way they view design and life.

In two short video interviews, they share what made Florence such a powerful place to learn, explore, and grow.

Prachi Sharma – Discovering Architecture Through Culture

Originally from Indore in central India, Prachi completed her Master’s in Architecture at Florence Design School. She chose Florence after falling in love with the city on a previous visit—and this time, she returned not as a tourist, but as a creative professional in training.

“You feel the dolce vita… when a random stranger plays music and people just start to dance.”

Prachi describes how the school’s practical and detailed approach to architectural design transformed the way she sees both buildings and herself. She credits her professors for sharpening her eye and challenging her to express identity through structure.

Pooja Sathish – A New Perspective on Design Thinking

Pooja, from Mangla in southern India, earned a Dual Master’s in Architecture and Interior & Furniture Design. For her, Florence offered the ideal blend of creativity, professional training, and cultural immersion.

“The city inspires me. The school gave me confidence in my design thinking.”

She shares how the curriculum, paired with support from faculty and the vibrant energy of the city, helped her define her creative identity. The school’s ties to brands like Ferragamo and Prada gave her a broader view of the design world—and what’s possible within it.
